A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Washington, there are several types of orders explained below.

Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
Provides protection from harm bu a family or household member.
If you have been sexual assaulted, you may be able to file for a Sexual Assault Protection Order which can order your abuser to stay away from you.
Provides protection from harm from an abuser if they are someone who is NOT related or married to you.
Your WA Domestic Violence Order of Protection may be enforceable wherever you move.
If you are planning to move to WA or are going to be in WA for any reason, your protection or restraining order may be enforced.
