A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Alaska, there are several types of orders explained below.

Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.

Protects you from abuse by a household member, including relatives and dating partners.
- Protective Orders for Stalking
Protects from incidents of threatening, following, and/or coercive behavior that occurs more than once.
- Enforcing an AK Protective Order in Another State
Your restraining or protective order may be enforceable wherever you move.
- Enforcing an Order from Another State in Alaska
You may have your protective order from another state enforced in Alaska.
